Ford Pier - And The Goals Of Cognition - Besides
Ford Pier, as you are probably aware, is a fucking genius. And if you aren't, well, duh. Find out by snooping around his website because there is a great record by Ford Pier and the Goals of Cognition called 'Besides' available there. For free. Then buy all his other music because it is also fucking awesome. Duh.
This song is not on that record. But it is one of my favorites, and this video was shot on the last night of the Sugar Refinery in Vancouver in 2004. It is a great song, it was a great night at a great place and this is a great representation of what it was like to be there.

Huge Bus Now
Hal Hewett built a bus that ran on used fry grease. He drove it across Canada, sea to sea, absolutely free. No money on gas, no money on food. Just several thousand dollars on booze and smokes. This is the story of one Huge Bus.

PUNK ROCK RISING - Vancouver 77/78 - Punk Photos by Don Denton
Tiemen Kuipers of Talk's Cheap sent me an invite to this event. This fella Don Denton took some great pictures of punk rock as it grew up (or didn't . . .) in Vancouver at the end of the 1970's. Some of the earliest images of some seminal groups.
(heh heh, I said seminal)
